UPDATE: WOW, You’re a MORON (The XBOX has been RETURNED!)
So 2 out of 3 aint bad everyone, bravo! The cops have a lead on the actual robber and seem to be doing their job. I never expected to get anything back, so this awesome. I would like to thank everyone at work who pitched in to get me the new XBOX(spare?) which lead to all this and then everyone who dugg the story and effectively forced the issue onto the people with the stolen goods.
Thank You Anon and Digg.
Show and Tell:
For those that will ask: it was left in a white trash bag on my doorstep. The mother called and told me to go outside and that it was out there already. She stayed on the phone until i verified the contents. We WON!
To the Admin of http://xboxmoron.wikidot.com: Please remove all content, thank you.

Jesse McPherson now has his X-Box & Mac back. It seems that the moron and his mother dropped the stuff off last night on McPherson’s doorstep. He received a phone call to look outside for the items. They were left on the doorstep in a white trash bag. The cops have a lead on the actual thief. McPherson has pictures posted on his blog. […]

Justice? In my internets?

I just read your story in a newspaper in Australia, and I think it is fantastic thing that you got most of your stuff back. The power of the internet is a wonderful thing.
Too bad the local police let you down, initially I hope they are red faced about not doing any actual police work, must of been to time consuming for them to fill in a police report that the delicate little petal’s needed a nap.
You should have pressed charges on the boy and his mother for receiving stolen goods.
I do believe that there is a law against that sort of thing.

Glad you got your stuff back. BTW, I gave the kid who stole your stuff my ID10T award from the week. Tired to leave a comment earlier but wasn’t able to.

Cool, now quit playing video games and get a somewhat socially acceptable hair cut hippy. And cover up the tat unless you would enjoy on working a Mcjob the rest of your life.

You sound a little old to be on the internet, Mr/Mrs ‘ok’.

To OK: Sorry to crush your outstanding comment but I spend my days in service of a Fortune 500 company and no I don’t cover up my ink in the office. I am great at what I do and that is what matters. Stop judging people by what they look like, you’ll meet a lot of great people.

This story has been so epic, it should be made into a high budget hollywood block buster.

I sure hope the kid gets arrested, thrown in prison, and butt raped. I HATE thieves!

I know the guy that returned the laptop claimed he bought it, but come one. No one buys a laptop and then tries to pawn it.
I’m glad Mom called as you know she’s going to take that out of son’s hide.
Now for the TV. I hope this time the cops have been shamed into actually doing their jobs.
And kudos to the e-community. Great work. If more stories had endings like this, there would be less morons out trying to rip people off. Well, maybe not. If they were rocket scientist to begin with, they wouldn’t be out stealing other peoples hard-earned stuff.
Karmageddon at its finest.

[…] Jesse McPherson is a 26-year-old, an engineer at Comcast Interactive Media and today, our hero. A little over half a month ago, McPherson’s Fishtown apartment was burglarized and he lost his flat screen television, his Apple Laptop and his Xbox 360. Within the past week, he’s gotten not only his laptop and Xbox back, but also an apology from the local burglar — and all because of the power of the internet. […]
